WE ARE ESSENTIAL!

The theme of this year's children's month celebration is "new normal walang iwanan, karapatan ng bata ating tutukan." My question is, do we know all our rights as children? Well if i were to ask, I honestly answered no but i am aware our rights are categorised in 4 categories. The 4 categories are Survival, Development, Participation and Protection.

Let's go first to survival where we have the rights to be protected and taken care of by our parents. Next, development where we are enabled to participate in an activity and develop ourselves. Third, Participation where we are free to express our thoughts and ideas and talk about the issues, especially the ones that are affecting us. Lastly, Protection where we need to be protected from any violence, harassment, neglect, exploitation, abuse at home or elsewhere and to protect not only our physical health but also the mental and emotional health.

This year's celebration of Children's Month might not be as fun as the previous years because of this pandemic but I hope this won't stop you from knowing your rights. Open your eyes, ears, mouth and stand with your rights but always remember the responsibility that you have.

To sum everything up, let's be aware of our rights as a child or person. Every right matters; every child matters. Let us all stand up for our rights. Happy children's months!!
