One of the most significant dates in the Philippine’s history is Independence Day because it marks the nation’s independence from Spanish rule on June 12, 1898.

The Philippines' independence was a huge accomplishment. On Independence Day, national heroes' sacrifices are commemorated, the country's sovereignty is respected, citizens are instilled with nationalism, and the culture and tradition of the people are celebrated.

General Emilio Aguinaldo raised the Philippine flag for the first time on that day in 1898, after issuing a decree declaring the day as a proclamation of independence. The sun represents liberty, and the eight rays reflect the original provinces that revolted against Spain on the Philippine flag. The three stars represent Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Philippines' three main islands. The white triangle stands for equality and hope, while the blue stripe signifies peace, truth, and justice. Finally, the red stripe represents heroism and patriotism.

Independence Day is observed in a variety of ways. On the streets of Manila, the most visible celebrations may be seen. The President of the Philippines will lead a police and military parade on June 12 in Manila.

For our and our country's freedom, our forefathers and heroes battled and sacrificed their lives. Let us defend our liberty and serve our country in the best way we can. Thank you to our heroes and happy independence day!
